General Summary:

Wayside Technology Group, Inc., a growing company with a fast-paced environment, is seeking a driven and dynamic professional to join its HR and Finance team as an HR/Payroll Coordinator. The person filling this position will be primarily for processing payroll records leading to the issuance of paychecks, maintaining payroll and employee records while supporting the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources and Finance Teams’ Corporate and mutual goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Enter data in payroll records and payroll software, compiling payroll data such as timecards, salaries, commissions, bonuses, and garnishments as well as other miscellaneous earnings and mandatory and voluntary deductions, i.e., health contributions, retirement contributions, etc.
  • Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data including reconciliation of timecards
  • Update payroll records by entering all updates and changes into the HRIS systems
  • Process all pay changes, updating salaries, tax exemptions, termination pay, status changes including leave-of-absences from source documentation
  • Ensure accuracy of all payrolls prior to processing
  • Supply periodic reports, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, etc.) for management
  • Assist with hiring process, acquiring background checks, and generating offer letters when requested, preparing new hire onboarding document packets for new hire’s signature, set up new hire files for maintaining new hire records
  • Distribution of annual earnings tax forms (W-2’s and T-4’s)
  • Assist with the annual retirement plan audits in conjunction with external auditors
  • Assist with other miscellaneous HR and Finance projects when necessary

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Mathematical ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, percentages and ratios and apply to practical situations
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Problem solving, ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on one situations
  • Strong Microsoft Suite skill, particularly Excel and Word
  • Good interpersonal skills as well as oral andwritten communication skills
  • Carryout duties using discretion and confidentiality at the highest level

Requirements:

  • College degree preferred
  • Two or more years of payroll, accounting and/or HR related experience
