Welcome to the October 2026 MSP Minute!
Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a timely reminder that strong cybersecurity isn’t just about protecting systems. For MSPs, it’s also about helping clients reduce risk while building security services that are efficient, scalable, and sustainable.
In this edition of Climb’s MSP Minute, we’re looking at three approaches MSPs can put into practice with ConnectSecure, Bitdefender, and Sophos.
Bitdefender: Grow Security Services Without Growing Complexity
Expanding an MSP security portfolio can create an uncomfortable tradeoff: offer more sophisticated protection to clients, but potentially introduce more tools, alerts, consoles, and operational overhead for the team managing them.
Bitdefender positions GravityZone Cloud MSP Security around addressing that challenge through centralized, multi-tenant management. MSPs can manage policies, alerts, and deployments through a unified interface, with integrations into RMM and PSA tools designed to simplify workflows.
Practical strategy: Create security tiers that can grow with the client
Not every customer has the same security maturity, budget, or risk profile. Instead of building an identical security package for every organization, MSPs can structure offerings so customers have room to mature.
Bitdefender’s approach supports that strategy with scalable security bundles and capabilities spanning EDR, MDR, XDR, compliance, attack surface management, proactive hardening, and extended email security.
This provides MSPs with options for expanding services as client needs change. GravityZone’s Compliance Manager, for example, centralizes compliance visibility and aligns with frameworks and regulations including CIS, NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS, HIPAA, CMMC 2.0, Cyber Essentials, and others. Bitdefender also describes automated, audit ready reporting designed to reduce overhead for multi-tenant compliance services.
For clients needing additional security support, Bitdefender’s MDR offering in
MSP takeaway: Build a security offering that gives customers a clear path to add capabilities as their requirements evolve, while keeping management centralized for your own team. cludes around the clock monitoring, investigation and triage by security experts, along with pre-approved containment and response actions.
ConnectSecure: Turn Vulnerability Management Into a Scalable Service
You cannot protect what you cannot see. For MSPs managing multiple client environments, maintaining visibility across endpoints, servers, network devices, cloud applications, and Microsoft 365 can quickly become difficult.
ConnectSecure brings vulnerability, patch, and compliance management into a multi-tenant platform built around four core activities: identify, patch, monitor, and report. MSPs can discover assets, continuously scan for vulnerabilities, prioritize remediation, and track risk across client environments from a centralized dashboard.
Practical strategy: Make vulnerability management part of the client conversation
Rather than treating vulnerability scanning as something that happens quietly in the background, MSPs can use risk visibility as an ongoing client service.
ConnectSecure supports vulnerability prioritization using EPSS, CVSS, and CISA KEV, while automated remediation covers Windows, Linux, and more than 550 third party applications. Its white label reporting can also support QBRs, audits, cyber insurance, compliance initiatives, and conversations about how a client’s risk posture is changing over time.
That gives MSPs a practical cycle to build into their service delivery: Identify → Prioritize → Remediate → Report → Repeat
For MSPs, the opportunity is to turn vulnerability management from an internal technical task into a visible, repeatable client service. ConnectSecure also offers more than 30 integrations with PSA, RMM, and IT management platforms, plus an open API, helping the service fit into existing MSP workflows.
MSP takeaway: Use vulnerability and compliance data to make risk tangible for clients and create more meaningful conversations around remediation, security posture, and ongoing improvement.
Sophos: Remove the Upfront Cost Barrier From Firewall Growth
Some MSP growth challenges aren’t technical at all.
Firewall projects traditionally require an upfront hardware investment, which can create friction for the MSP, the customer, or both. Sophos Firewall HWaaS takes a different approach by allowing MSP Flex partners to purchase Sophos Firewall hardware through monthly billing rather than a traditional upfront investment. Hardware costs are spread over a 12 month commitment and billed through MSP Flex.
Practical strategy: Better align service costs with recurring revenue
For an MSP operating on a recurring revenue model, large upfront hardware costs don’t always fit neatly into the business.
Sophos Firewall HWaaS bundles hardware and Xstream Protection into a monthly price, with billing beginning upon activation or 30 days after shipment. According to the solution brief, partners have a 12 month minimum commitment followed by month to month billing.
The model is designed so hardware expenses more closely align with the recurring revenue MSPs collect from customers. Sophos identifies several potential use cases, including MSPs looking to eliminate upfront firewall capital expenditure, standardize firewalls across customers, replace competitive firewalls at renewal, or address situations where cash flow and deployment scale are concerns.
MSP takeaway: Look beyond the technology itself when evaluating your stack. How you purchase and package infrastructure can have a meaningful effect on cash flow, recurring revenue, and your ability to pursue larger customer opportunities.
