Welcome to the August 2026 MSP Minute!
Cybersecurity threats continue to evolve at an unprecedented pace, and for MSPs, staying ahead of vulnerabilities has never been more critical. In this month’s Climb MSP Minute, we sat down with Ryan Seymour, VP, Consulting and Education at ConnectSecure, to discuss how MSPs can simplify vulnerability management, improve compliance readiness, and build new recurring revenue opportunities.
ConnectSecure has built its platform around three core pillars: vulnerability management, compliance scanning, and patch management. By combining these capabilities into a single-agent solution, the company helps MSPs reduce tool sprawl while gaining greater visibility into client environments.
Meet Ryan Seymore, VP, Consulting and Education
Ryan Seymour is Vice President of Consulting and Education at ConnectSecure. With nearly 20 years of experience across MSP operations, business ownership, cybersecurity consulting, and the technology vendor community, he helps organizations build practical, scalable cybersecurity programs. Ryan is passionate about translating complex security concepts into actionable strategies that help organizations better manage risk and deliver meaningful outcomes for their customers.
One Platform, One Agent, Complete Visibility
Many MSPs find themselves juggling multiple tools for vulnerability scanning, patching, and compliance reporting. According to Ryan Seymour, ConnectSecure eliminates that complexity by delivering all three capabilities through a single agent.
“The value that we bring to our partners is a single agent to do all of these things,” Seymour explained. “Many organizations have several agents running on their machines to do patching, scanning, and compliance. With ConnectSecure, you get one agent and all the functionality is fully baked in.”
The platform scans both internal and external assets, identifies vulnerabilities, evaluates compliance against major frameworks such as CIS, NIST, HIPAA, PCI, and CMMC, and provides remediation guidance. Built-in patch management enables MSPs to move directly from discovery to remediation without relying on additional solutions.
Helping MSPs Cut Through Alert Fatigue
Security teams today aren’t struggling to find vulnerabilities. They’re struggling to manage the sheer volume of alerts generated across client environments.
To help reduce alert fatigue, ConnectSecure integrates with popular RMM and PSA platforms, allowing technicians to work within the tools they already use every day. Instead of flooding teams with excessive information, the platform focuses on delivering actionable findings directly into existing workflows.
“When we send an alert over, we send it over with very minimal information, but it’s the right information,” Seymour said. “It’s the affected asset, what the risk is, and how to fix it.”
Rather than forcing technicians into yet another dashboard, ConnectSecure delivers vulnerability, patching, and compliance data where teams are already working. This helps MSPs reduce context switching, speed up remediation efforts, and focus on the issues that require immediate attention. By prioritizing actionable alerts over alert volume, partners can spend less time sorting through findings and more time improving client security.
Prioritization Starts with the Asset
MSPs often focus on critical and high-severity findings, but Seymour believes effective prioritization starts before the vulnerability itself.
“The firewall is not equivalent to the printer,” he explained. “If a vulnerability shows up on both, most people instinctively know the firewall needs attention first.”
ConnectSecure helps partners classify assets into risk tiers based on business importance. Internet-facing devices and firewalls are treated differently from user workstations, printers, or IoT devices, helping MSPs make smarter remediation decisions. By prioritizing vulnerabilities based on both the severity of the finding and the importance of the affected asset, ConnectSecure helps MSPs prioritize remediation efforts where they’ll have the greatest impact on client security.
“Prioritization can only happen if you have your assets prioritized,” Seymour emphasized. “If you just get stuck chasing critical and highs all the time, you sometimes leave out protecting what matters most.”
Turning Compliance into Revenue
As compliance requirements continue expanding across industries, many MSPs are looking for ways to transform compliance from a challenge into a growth opportunity.
ConnectSecure’s compliance scanning capabilities generate detailed gap analyses that identify where customers fall short of required controls.
“Having compliance scanning is almost like a cheat code,” Seymour said. “You can see exactly what your customer needs. It isn’t based on what you think they might need. You actually have the data to prove it.”
Those findings provide MSPs with opportunities to recommend new projects, recurring compliance services, remediation efforts, and strategic security improvements.
Expanding Security Service Offerings
While vulnerability management remains a core focus, Seymour noted that many organizations are looking for broader visibility across their environments. In addition to identifying vulnerabilities on servers, workstations, and network devices, ConnectSecure can uncover security weaknesses in identity platforms and cloud services, including Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 environments.
“Our platform has the ability to identify weaknesses in those configurations, specifically around Entra, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 services,” Seymour noted. “Those can be included in the service and provide a lot of additional value.”
This expanded visibility helps MSPs identify risks that may be overlooked by traditional vulnerability scans, giving them a more complete picture of a client’s security posture while helping ensure critical systems, identities, and cloud resources remain properly secured.
Why Vulnerability Management is the New Table Stakes
Perhaps the strongest takeaway from the discussion was Seymour’s perspective on today’s threat landscape.
Drawing on recent threat intelligence reports from organizations such as Verizon, CrowdStrike, and Palo Alto Networks, he explained that exploited vulnerabilities are emerging as a primary entry point for cyberattacks.
“It’s time for the whole industry to double down on vulnerability scanning,” Seymour said. “We can’t do monthly scans and quarterly scans anymore. It’s not good enough.”
He went on to describe vulnerability management as a foundational component of modern cybersecurity strategy.
“For the last decade, every organization has had firewalls and antivirus,” he said. “It feels like vulnerability management is now the third table stakes that we have to bring to every customer.”
According to Seymour, organizations should move toward more frequent scanning and more aggressive patching practices to reduce their attack surface and minimize risk.
“The disruption that happens from a breach far outweighs the disruption of patching a machine and restarting it in the middle of the day.”
What’s Next for ConnectSecure?
Looking ahead, ConnectSecure continues to invest heavily in enhancements for MSP partners.
Some of the upcoming areas of focus include expanded CMMC support, enhanced compliance management capabilities, data loss prevention (DLP), automated penetration testing, and web application security.
“We’re very aggressive in our development efforts,” Seymour said. “Anybody that’s partnered with ConnectSecure knows how quickly we release features and updates.”
With compliance mandates and security expectations continuing to rise, these additions are designed to help MSPs strengthen their security offerings while creating new opportunities for growth.
A Special Offer
MSPs interested in evaluating ConnectSecure can take advantage of a fully functional 14-day free trial with no credit card required.
In addition, new partners receive complimentary onboarding assistance from ConnectSecure’s team to ensure proper implementation and adoption. ConnectSecure is also currently offering $200 off per month for the first two months, providing an affordable entry point for MSPs looking to strengthen their vulnerability management strategy.
Final Thoughts
As cyber threats continue to evolve, vulnerability management can no longer be treated as an occasional task. MSPs need continuous visibility, actionable remediation guidance, and streamlined workflows that help them protect clients without increasing operational complexity.
As Seymour put it: “We can’t afford not to scan every customer for vulnerabilities.”
For MSPs looking to strengthen their security posture while creating new service opportunities, that message may be the most important takeaway of all.
